REPAIR AND REVALUATION OF THE BLEES

On the initiative of the Municipality of Tandel, in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment and Tourism, the repair and revaluation of the Blees was carried out from 2017 till 2019.

The riverbed consisted of a concrete floor and was characterized by a too high flow rate, an insufficient depth of water and the absence of refuges for fishes. Natural stones from the region were used to restore the biological continuity and the riverbed. This measure also serves the flood protection and means an upgrade for the village.

The state of the Blees before its repair and revaluation can be seen on the pictures below. The national hiking trail and one local hiking trail lead over a newly created wooden pier along the Blees, over a pedestrian bridge, which was renovated while maintaining its old aesthetic feature, along a war memorial of the Second World War and along the old mill channel, which was exposed as a witness from the era.
